Is crypto very risky?

So, is crypto really that risky? I hear a lot of people talking about it, but I'm not sure if I should get involved. I've heard stories about people losing everything they invested, and that's really scary. But then I also hear about people making a fortune overnight. What's the truth? Is it really that volatile? And if it is, how can I protect myself? Should I just avoid it altogether, or is there a way to invest safely in this market? I'm really curious to know your thoughts on this. Is crypto very risky?
